On Northshore:
People of the world!
A few months ago we shot two new music videos in Vancouver while we were between tours. Sara and I wanted to do something really simple and performance based for these latest videos from Sainthood and so if you were becoming attached to our high concept, confusing music videos of late, then you might not dig these videos. In On Directing, Sara and I are wearing gorilla suits and are on the moon. We spend most of the video trying to come up with a formula to make the iPHONE not break when you drop it. In Northshore, Sara and I spend most of our time in an imaginary mosh pit in a room decorated with artwork from our past 12 years as a band. Obviously only one of those treatments is real. To find out which one is made up and which one is exactly as I described watch the video premiere for On Directing this Monday, July 26! Canadians will be able to view it at muchmusic.com and the rest of the world can see it at alloy.com. We will post the direct links on Monday. Then two weeks later, Northshore will be premiering on Tuesday, August 10 on myspace.com worldwide. Obviously you have to wait a bit longer to actually see the videos, but we wanted to tease you a bit by showing you some of Lindsey Byrnes’ photos of the shoot (find them on the photo page) and a video I made.

¡Gente del mundo!
Hace unos meses filmamos dos nuevos videoclips en Vancouver mientras estábamos entre gira y gira. Sara y yo queríamos hacer algo que fuera simple y basado en actuaciones para estos últimos vídeos de Sainthood, así que si estabas acostumbrando a los confusos y complejos videoclips que hemos hecho últimamente, quizás no les guste mucho estos vídeos.
En On Directing, Sara y yo llevamos disfraces de gorila y estamos en la luna. Nos pasamos gran parte del videoclip intentando averiguar como hacer que un IPhone no se rompa cuando lo tiras al suelo.
En Northshore, Sara y yo pasamos gran parte del tiempo en una “mosh pit” imaginaria en una habitación decorada con fotos de nuestros 12 años como grupo.
Obviamente, sólo una de estas explicaciones es cierta. Para averiguar cuál es inventada y cuál es exactamente como la he descrito, mira el estreno del videoclip de On Directing este lunes 26 de julio! Los canadienses podrán verlo en muchmusic.com y el resto del mundo lo podrá ver en alloy.com. Postearemos los enlaces directos el lunes.
Y luego, dos semanas después, Northshore se estrenará el martes 10 de agosto en myspace.com para todo el mundo.
Obviamente, tendran que esperar un poco más para ver los vídeos, pero queríamos tomarles un poco el pelo enseñándo algunas de las fotos que Lindsay Byrnes hizo de la grabación (las pueden encontrar en la sección “fotos”) y un vídeo que hice yo.

Northshore Video Premiere!
Tonight’s the night you guys! Sara and I are premiering our new video for NORTHSHORE on Myspace right now at myspace.com/teganandsara!
Growing up Sara and I loved punk rock (still do in fact). Even though our band is definitely not punk rock, I personally try to infuse the punk rock energy into my songs when I’m making new music. Have you noticed? Ha.
When I was writing Northshore I imagined the video in my head. I don’t often do that. So when it came time to sit down to write the treatment I tried to remember back to the moment I wrote that Northshore riff.
These were the things I had imagined:
a) Sara and I rocking out
b) Sara and I dancing around, possibly in a bed room or a room that looked like our childhood bedrooms
c) Sara and I in a room flanked by photos of ourselves from different eras

¡Estreno de Northshore!
¡Hoy es la noche, chicos! Sara y yo estrenamos nuestro nuevo videoclip de NORTHSHORE en Myspace. ¡Ahora mismo en myspace.com/teganandsara!
De pequeñas, a Sara y a mí nos encantaba el punk rock (de hecho, aún nos gusta). Aunque nuestro grupo es definitivamente no punk rock, yo personalmente intento introducir la energía punk rock en mis canciones cuando estoy haciendo música nueva.
¿Han notado? Ha.
Cuando estaba escribiendo Northshore imaginé el videoclip en mi cabeza. No lo suelo hacer. Así que cuando llegó el momento de sentarnos para escribir el cómo sería el videoclip intenté recordar el momento en que escribí la base de la canción Northshore.
Estas son las cosas que imaginé:
a) Sara y yo guitarreando
b) Sara y yo bailando, posiblemente, en una cama o en una habitación que se pareciera a los dormitorios de nuestra infancia.
c) Sara y yo en una habitación flanqueada por fotos de nosotras de diferentes épocas.
